Abrahams Tea Round

30 miles, 12,000 feet

The object of this route is to tick off the 10 tops that can be seen from Abraham's cafe on the upper floor of the George Fisher outdoor shop in Keswick.  The route may be completed in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. There is no time limit although to finish in daylight is an obvious incentive . Successful completions can be logged on the Leader Board on the George Fisher website subject to the supply of a GPX file. A certificate and badge are also awarded to all successful contenders.

I was attracted by the quirkyness of the round as described in an issue of the Fellrunner magazine.  It also passes over the quintiscential Lake District hills of the Newlands valley, Buttermere and the Grasmoor group; and is of a distance short enough to make a pleasant day out.  If added incentive were needed, a golden tea cup was being offered for the first batch of completers, plus a free piece of cake and hot drink.  I chose to go anticlockwise (not a good idea in the slippery conditions coming off High Stile), and made it back to the cafe in time for tea and cake and a prized golden tea cup.
